New High School in South Carolina
I was asked recently to list all the new and in the works high schools in South Carolina. Listed are the new and upcoming high schools planned in the state.
Powdersville Patriots
Anderson County
The Patriots fielded a Junior Varsity team this fall and will play Varsity for the first time in 2012.
Next season Powdersville will play in Class 2A Region 1. Odds are the Patriots will move up to 3A in 2014 and should be in the 4A ranks in 2016.

Westwood Red Hawks
Richland County District 2
The growth in northeast Columbia continues and the result is a 5th High School in the district. 25 years ago Spring valley stood alone in NE Columbia. Richland NE was built in 1978 followed by Ridge View in 1996 and then Blythewood in 2005. Westwood will open in 2012 and pull students from the other schools.
According to the site, Westwood will field a Varsity football team in 2012 and will play in Class 3A Region 4. Anticipated enrollment is 1200.

Other new schools
Not Named
Lexington District 5

River Bluff High School
Lexington District 1

Fountain Inn High school / South County High School / Golden Strip
Greenville County
To be built in Southern Greenville to alleviate over crowding at Hillcrest, Mauldin and Woodmont.

There is a push to name the new school after the Afro American High School, Fountain Inn. Offically the project is still known as the South County High School.
